New Delhi, 12th December. Dwarka Kala Sargam, a musical organization which appreciates and promotes the melodious music of the Golden Era and provide a platform for aspiring singers to showcase their talent, presented a musical evening “ Ahlad” on Sunday in Chitrakoot Apartments, Dwarka. The program was organized after a span of 2 years due to COVID Pandemic with the aim of celebrating life or in other words “Victory of life”.
The program was started with an energetic and Oscar award winning song “Jai Ho” from the movie Slum dog Millionaire. This song set the mood for the rest of the evening. Through this program DKS has also initiated to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Mother India by way of including one or two folk songs representing Indian States. This time a song representing the social aspect of Mithilanchal was included “Kahe tohse sajna tohri sajaniya…” the popular Sharda Sinha’s song explaining unconditional love and dedication of Indian women. Another highlight was the most popular “Tappe”…most popular folk lore from Punjab. Tappe forced the audience to dance and sing along.
The melodies from the Golden Era of Hindi Cinema took the center stage when singers traced the journey of songs by crooning hit numbers – like “Ab kya misaal doon mai tumhare shabab ki…., Ye raate ye mausam nadi ka kinara…, Solah baras ki bali umar ko…, Wo jab yaad aaye bahut yaad aaye…., Tum agar sath deney ka vada karo …., pankh hote to udh aati re…., Dil ka diya jala ke…, Hai re wo din kyu na aye…, tere sur aur mere geet…, Tere sung pyar mai nahi todna….., Zindagi pyar ka geet hai…., Mujhe na sapno se behlaao…., Manzil vahi hai pyar Ki rahi Badal gaye….., Dheere dheere machal aye dile beqarar.
The singers who captivated the audience with their rendering of musical pieces were- Karuna Srivastava, Promila Malik, Joginder Malik, R. K. Jain, Jaya Lakshmi, Harish Mathur, Ritu Dogra, Azad, Deepak Malik and Madhu Gupta. The host of the event was Shashi Jain. The evening of entertainment won great acclaim and applause of the large gathering of music lovers of the city.
